Our current high school level classes.
ONLINE COURSES with TONY WHITE
For the past 2 years the 2D Academy has offered a weekly, high school level class that focused on the core principles of movement, using traditional hand-drawn animation techniques. Now these classes are online, making it possible to offer more than one class per week. Our next classes begin in August 2020 and will be held on one or two days a week, from 6.00pm - 8.00pm (Pacific Time).
Classes are available for students of ages from 11 years old and upwards. Students can work with their own preferred 2D animation techniques ~ either digitally, traditionally on paper or even through the form of simple flipbooks. The material is suitable for beginners, or even current animators looking to bring their animation to the next level. A proven drawing ability is not necessary ~ but a love for drawing is essential as there will be a lot of drawing to do within the course material.
There are 4 x 10-week Modules throughout the year, covering such topics as "Keys & Inbetweens", "Squash & Stretch", "Weight", "Overlapping Action", "Arcs", "Anticipation", "Generic Walks", "Generic Runs", "Jumps", "Throws" and many more principles of movement. The course also includes "observational gesture drawing", as well as touching on all aspects of production ~ including "Storyboarding", "Design" and "Pre-Production/Production/Post-Production" techniques.
A signed "Certificate of Completion" will be offered to all students who successfully complete all four modules throughout the year.
(Note: A second year of more advanced production training will be available for graduating 1st year students who wish to take their studies further and work on their own short animated production.)
