"Golden Pencil" awards, big audiences and great, Oscar-nominated filmmakers!
FESTIVAL

Our "DRAWTASTIC" animation festival (formally known as the "2D OR NOT 2D Animation Festival") began over a decade ago, at the Historic Theater in Everett, WA. It's purpose was to establish a home and showcase for traditional 2D animation in the USA. The festival's inaugural event was opened by the late, great 2D animation advocate, Roy E. Disney. Roy charmed and inspired  the audience with wonderful tales of his uncle Walt - and of the Disney studio where he was a chief executive at the time. The festival went from strength to strength, ultimately attracting guests  from far and wide, to speak and present their work. Signficant among these were Disney producer Don Hahn (twice, due to popular request), animation legend Richard Williams and twice Oscar nominated Irish director, Tomm Moore, who brought his art director colleague, Ross Stewart. The festival is now purely an online event, starting in 2018. That way it can reach a much larger, worldwide audience. It is believed that by doing this, the festival's tradition of awarding it's coveted "Golden Pencil Awards" to outstanding films (especially traditionally 2D animated films) will be more effective. Filmmakers wishing to enter their work for the 2019 event can submit via our dedicated FilmFreeway page.

Note: Award-winning films from our  2018 event can be streamed for 1 year on our dedicated Vimeo Page for just $1.50.
