"
SOCIAL MEDIA ANIMATION"

Animation is all over the internet these days. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc. are all exciting  and growing internet platforms that are filled with innovative, clever, funny, and often provocative animated films. It is such a pity that the vast majority of these great ideas are created with such BAD quality animation! This course will hopefully change that!

So, join award-winning animator & author, Tony White, to learn how to animate your social media ideas & products well, gaining more attention, respect and identity in the process!

LAUNCHING MARCH 2023
How it Works

Once you signup for our fun, 6-week, short course you will be given a choice of six unique music tracks to work with. Select the track that most inspires you and come up with an animation idea that will work well with the music, and for a short, social media film that will work well for Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube, or any other social platform of your own choice. If you are able to create your own original music track for your project, then you can use that instead of the six provided.

With your music track decided, instructor Tony White will guide you though a proven process that will result in you creating powerful & effective animation for your film. At the end of the 6 week period, you will have created your own knockout animation idea and posted it onto your chosen social media site - or even all of them!

Along the way, you will have learned how to successfully take your original idea from story to storyboard; from character design to concept art; from animatic to final animated film - making this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn animation, while at the same time taking your own ideas, designs and animation into a completed film - providing you a unique and distinctive social media presence in the process.

Finally, students completing films in this course could well see their films screened at the “DRAWTASTIC Animation Festival” - where one student's film could win a Golden Pencil Award in the "Best Social Media Film" category that will be established solely for the students in this class!

Instructor: Tony White

Tony White is an accomplished, award-winning, veteran animator and writer of many of the most respected animation books out there. He is also founder of the 2D ACADEMY, and director of the DRAWTASTIC Animation Festival. In his long career he had created over 200 TV commercials for some of the biggest clients around, 2 TV Specials for PBS, several short films – one of which, “HOKUSAI ~ An Animated Sketchbook”, won a British Academy Award. His latest book, “ANIMATION MASTERCLASSES from Pencils to Pixels” is considered the definitive textbooks for animators, teachers and filmmakers alike. Excited by some of the innovative ideas and videos put out on the various social media platforms, Tony is nevertheless frustrated by the fact that the animation for some of these outstanding ideas lets down their overall effectiveness. He is equally frustrated that many of the animation tutorials that are to be found on the various social platforms out there are created by those who do not themselves know how to animate well. As a result, Tony has decided to set up a short course that mentors young social media animators – teaching them how to animate well and raise the bar on their work. Through this short, 6-week course Tony will coach creators on how to really animate their own ideas.

* DISCLAIMER: Whereas pretty much anything goes on social media today, this class will limit the subject matter being created, to respect the wider range of students participating - i.e. from the very young to the very old. Your instructor therefore reserves the right to refuse idea content that a student may wish to create. For example, if anything is deemed too violent, too sexual or in any way offensive to a general audience, it will not be allowed in our classroom setting. That said, the more groundbreaking, original and diverse the student ideas are, the better as far as we're concerned!
