First, a recent interview that 2D ACADEMY founder, Tony White, did for PBS television in the States...
And now some of our course content and student work so far...
Bottom line, the 2D ACADEMY's "Diploma" program for young people (and not so young people - all are welcome!) is extensive and pretty much the equivalent many animation degree courses out there - at least in terms of it's comprehensive range of content provided! It even comes with high school art credits, for those young students who qualify.
We're sure you have questions? Here's some to get on with...
Well, you will definitely get the highest level of instruction on the core principles of movement and all the techniques required to do 2D animation and make your own film & showreel with the skills you will learn. But in addition to that, you will be part of our own private animation social network too. As members of the network you will not only be able to chat with your instructor and other students, but you will also have access to other free courses, animation events and private interviews with people in the industry. What other online schools will offer you that?

Well, it is traditionally believed that to get into the animation industry - or indeed any other creative industry - you need a degree. Well, the truth is that if you're talented and knowledgeable enough, studios will want you anyway! The question is, how do you get that good? Clearly some degree colleges and courses will do that for a few of those who can afford to attend and work within the disciplines of formal education. But our Diploma teaches all the things you need to know to get into - and survive - in the industry. It just needs your commitment and hard work to help us make that possible for you.

Well, the obvious qualities we look for in students is passion and commitment. We can give you everything you will need to become a Master Animator, but it's ultimately your responsibility to work with them and make it so. Outside of that however, you don't need many skills to be accepted by us. Indeed, you don't even need to draw well. As long as you're prepared to draw a lot and complete the assignments you are given, you will ultimately be good enough to become a professional. We even offer an introductory elective class in "foundational drawing", as well as a more advanced class of "drawing for animation" so you can raise the bar on these skills alone!

Well, you even have options here too. Our entire Diploma program can be supplied online and in a way that you are unsupervised and learn everything at your own pace. As long as you deliver the required material at the end of each teaching unit at at a high enough level, you are capable of achieving our Diploma in Animation. However, we also offer the material in our preferred participation way, in the format of our 48-week, "Tuesday Night Live" classes online, on Zoom. That way you can access "live" classes online each Tuesday night (6:00 - 8:00pm, Pacific Time) where he will present the material to you and critique it as you work on it and submit it to our private digital Classroom at any time before the next class. Remote students who unable to attend the "live" class due to time zone differences however, can view a recording of the class the next day and receive all the same follow-up mentoring and social networking opportunities that "live" students will enjoy.
