My NEW BOOK ~ it's ready to go but I need more artwork!
PHEW!
After writing for many, many months, 7 days a week - and now 555 pages later - I'm happy to announce that the manuscript for my new book, "ANIMATION MASTERCLASSES ~ from Pencils to Pixels" is finally finished! It will be published by Taylor & Francis, at a date to be decided in 2022. Now all I need to add is over 1,100 images to illustrate the text! The bulk of these I have already but I need many more. So, I would love the help of other animators like yourself, by you donating your work to the book also. Much of my students' work is earmarked for it already, but I need much more.
Essentially this one covers everything anyone will ever need to know about the core principles of movement. In addition, it works through all the key stages of film-based "Pre-production" and "Production" too. In this way, the book is a collection of 48 proven masterclasses, based on my 50+ years award-winning animating, directing and teaching in the US and UK based animation worlds. Readers starting the book can go in knowing absolutely nothing about animation, but come out at the end having made their own short film. In this way, I hope it will become THE essential textbook for instructors, schools and individual students everywhere. This means that the artwork I want to include needs to be equally diverse - in the sense that it represents all styles, cultures and levels of expertise, whether created by students or professionals.

In this way I want it to especially be a showcase for new and emerging talents in traditional 2D animation work from around the world. So, if you're keen to get exposure for what you're all about creatively, then please donate your work. In addition to your work being printed beautifully for an international industry readership, you'll get full name and contact information credited, should your work be selected.
As the book deals with all categories of the 2D (traditional and digital) animation process, I would really love to get a wide range of examples for at least the following... rough sketches, concept art, storyboards, background art, animation drawings, gesture drawings, character designs, turnaround model sheets, color models, color scripts, production & promotional art, etc., etc. The bottom line is that if you created it for a project or successful student assignment and want me to consider it for the book, then please send me a link to where I can view it. I will respond to everyone who's work fits the requirements of the book text.
CONDITIONS: The only proviso to any of this is that the work has to be your own copyright for me to publish - or if it's not, then it needs to come with the written permission of the copyright owner. My publisher requires that of me, so I have to make that a condition of acceptance for you too. Indeed, I will require you to sign a simple document to confirm that the work can be freely published - copies of which I will have to forward to my publisher as proof of it's clearance anyway.
So PLEASE send me links to your work, wherever you are in the world. I'm definitely NOT looking for the "same old, same old" predictable Hollywood studio style stuff - although I hope some of the best of that will be in there too. Instead, I essentially want to encourage young and emerging talents from around the world who are trying to get recognition in their own native industries, with their own innovative and diverse styles. All material for films, TV, Games or any other form of animated expression will be considered, as I genuinely want this to be a wonderful showcase for those who would not normally get this kind of exposure. I definitely don't want it to be about my work if I can avoid that!
So, please help me out here by using the "CONTACT" page on this website to send me your work links.
I do believe this is going to be my best book ever, by the way!
Tony. :)
